Common questions

Questions, answered.

Quick answers to what clients ask us most. Have a different question? Ask it in your consultation.

When is the tax deadline for self-employed people in Canada?

Self-employed individuals must file by June 15, but any balance owing is due by April 30. Paying late triggers interest even if you file on time.

When is a corporation's T2 return due?

Within six months of the corporation's year end. Any tax owing is usually due two or three months after year end, depending on the corporation.

Do you prepare trust and partnership returns?

Yes. Along with T1 personal and T2 corporate returns, we prepare T3 trust returns and T5013 partnership returns.

When do I need to register for GST/HST?

Once your taxable revenue goes over $30,000 in four consecutive calendar quarters, you must register. You can also register earlier voluntarily.

When are payroll remittances due?

Most small employers remit source deductions to the CRA by the 15th of the month after payday. Larger employers remit more often.

Can you deal with the CRA for me?

Yes. With your authorization we can represent you, respond to CRA letters and handle reviews.
